The Camden Hunt
The Camden Hunt, established in 1926 and recognized in 1929 by The Masters of Foxhounds Association, has enjoyed a rich heritage of traditional fox hunting for nearly a century. The hounds are primarily crossbred, bred for their nose, drive and stamina, and can press their quarry for hours when scenting conditions are at their best. Game is abundant and consists of red and gray foxes and coyotes. Camden Hunt Country is composed of over 15,000 acres of privately-owned land located in the heart of Kershaw County.
Thanks to the generosity of its landowners, the Firestone-Thiel Land Foundation, The Lloyd Family and Major General Julian H. Burns, The Camden Hunt remains responsible stewards of this land that is a mix of lush wetlands, hardwood bottoms, mature pine forests and open fields. Hunt Country is crisscrossed by miles of trails and is well-paneled with post-and-rail, log, coop and Aiken fences.
The Camden Hunt Mission:
To foster the traditions of fox hunting in Camden, South Carolina and to preserve and protect the wildlife and natural landscape of Camden Hunt Country for future generations.
Hickory Top Farm
Horses have a unique ability to transform lives by helping people engage, connect, and grow. Hickory Top Farm facilitates those experiences. Visitors to Hickory Top connect with horses and meet goals for improved health and well-being through Hickory Top’s therapeutic horsemanship and equine-assisted learning programs. Activities such as riding, grooming, leading, tacking, and feeding stretch and strengthen muscles and promote self-confidence. The horse’s movement helps riders build core strength, increases circulation, and has a positive effect on vital organs as well as the human spirit.
